Trusting the Download

As a writer, staring at a blank page, waiting for inspiration, is a little scary, not to mention intimidating. What if the words don’t come? What happens if I’m still sitting here hours from now, waiting for the Divine Download? Will God provide that transfer of ideas and information I depend on?

Life is like a blank writing page. God is writing our stories, and we are rarely given prior knowledge of what’s on the horizon. Waiting is involved, and waiting is hard. Trust is part of the equation, and trust is equally challenging.

So how do you approach trusting the download?

Stressing

Stress is real, something we face on a regular basis. Situations that seem to have no chance of resolution any time soon produce anxiety. Stress comes at inopportune times, when we don’t want to experience it. Sometimes, stresses pile up, one atop the other, creating an insurmountable wall. And just when you think there is no hope, a Divine Download appears.

Despite the pressure, stress provides opportunities to grow our trust muscles. Every time we trust God for answers, we learn fresh lessons in faith.

Waiting

I like to have my post for the week’s blog written by Monday. This week, that didn’t happen. I worked on other projects all day, hoping inspiration would strike. At one point, a title flitted through my brain, but almost immediately, I knew it was better suited for December. As I crawled in bed Monday night, a blank page loomed in my mind, and on my computer.

Waiting is an old, unwanted companion. Waiting is a process that requires the kind of patience most of us lack. Trust is the component that makes waiting bearable.

Trusting

Definitions of trust include: assurance, reliance on, dependence, hope, belief, confidence in.

Many times, we trust others, but they don’t live up to our expectations. Trusting God is different. He is worthy of our trust. If you feel God has failed you, realize what you view as being let down is really His better plan for you.

As hours ticked by, and Tuesday arrived, my trust was renewed when the title of this blog finally landed. Once the title was in place, inspiration blossomed and forward motion resumed.

Receiving

I’ve been a little surprised by the path this post has taken, yet I received this download with the assurance that it will be on target for some of my readers. Anything that involves trust and waiting always speaks to me, because so much of my life has involved these two. Perhaps it is the same for you.

Answers come, but rarely in our desired timing. Learning to receive the answers God gives, in the time frame He provides them, requires maturity and trust.

How well do you trust and wait for the answers God downloads?

“Trust the Lord! Be brave and strong and trust the Lord” (Psalm 27:14 CEV).
